Best season: Year-round. During autumn and winter the sky is more clean and clear, although the cooler months are still perfect for walking. In summer time there are sudden rains, but it is warm and great for swimming. During the high season, from December to March, the island receives many tourists, being vulnerable to traffic jams on the main roads. Between the months of August and October Santa Catarina coast is visited by whales. The walks at Praia do Rosa region are held in strategic locations for the cetaceans observation.
